Navigating Doughsense¶
This guide will help you understand how to navigate through Doughsense and find the features you need.
The Main Navigation¶
Doughsense is organised into five main sections, accessible from the bottom navigation bar (iPhone and Android apps) or top navigation bar (web):

2. Portfolio 💰¶
Manage what you own and owe:
- Accounts: Savings, investments, pensions
- Assets: Property, vehicles, valuables

Track money flow:
- Income: Salary, withdrawals, other sources
- Expenses: Bills, savings, debt payments

Dashboard Features¶
- Date Selector: View your finances at any future date

Dashboard Indicator Badges¶
Each metric card displays a coloured badge in the top-right corner that provides instant visual feedback about your financial health:
- 🟢 Green Badge: You're in the healthy range for this metric
- 🟡 Amber Badge: Caution - approaching limits or needing attention
- 🔴 Red Badge: Action needed - this metric needs immediate attention
- ⚪ Grey Badge: No specific status (neutral metrics)
These badges update automatically as your financial situation changes or when you view different dates, giving you immediate insight without needing to click into each metric.
Portfolio Features¶
- Add Items Dropdown: Create new accounts, assets, or liabilities from the header dropdown
- List View: See all items with current values
- Item Details: Tap any item to edit or view history
Budget Features¶
- Income/Expense Toggle: Switch between viewing types
- Add Items Dropdown: Create new income or expenses from the header dropdown
- Linked Items: See connections to accounts/debts
Plans Features¶
- Plan List: All your goals in one place
- Progress Indicators: Visual progress bars

Using the Settings Dropdown¶
The settings dropdown (⚙️ icon in the top navigation) provides quick access to viewing options:
- Today's Money: Toggle between actual money and today's purchasing power
- More options coming soon: Additional viewing preferences will be added here
To use it:
- Click the ⚙️ icon in the top navigation bar
- Toggle options on or off as desired
- The dropdown stays open so you can explore different settings
- Your view updates instantly with each change
